Volunteer
We welcome visitors for a minimum stay of two weeks, to fully immerse yourself in the community and become comfortable with the animals and the tasks. Daily tasks include feeding the dogs and farm animals, cleaning their areas, bathing and walking the dogs. There are always other projects going on like gardening, building or repairing things and organizing the shared spaces. Volunteers must love animals and be easy going, flexible and communicate well. This is not a vacation, it is a rewarding opportunity to live with animals and make a difference in their lives (and mine). Having help here is necessary to continue my work, and it's important for the animals to receive plenty of attention and exercise. While you're here you may have the opportunity to help out with a spay and neuter clinic, rescue and rehab a new dog, take adoptable dogs to our local market, help at a fundraising event, or co-host a dinner party here at the farm. There are always things to do; projects half finished, nails to be trimmed, dogs to be bathed, errands to run..It's much easier and much more fun with company. What To Expect
You will stay either in the volunteer house which is next to mine, or for longer term volunteers I have a cabina available with a bit more privacy. I do most of the cooking, all vegan, and in exchange I request $7 a day contribution towards ingredients like avocados, nuts, tofu, peanut butter, locally made sourdough and kimchi, milk alternatives, and other fun but expensive foods. We work together as a unit so there are no set days off. The morning duties take around 2 hours and we will take many half days off to go to the beach, into town, or on an adventure.
